If you have a passion for water quality and love to travel throughout Montana, a position as a Water Quality Specialist (Specialist) may be for you! The Specialist plans water quality projects that report about existing conditions or tracking change of water quality over time. Project management responsibilities will include planning, oversight, resource tracking and reporting. Other responsibilities may include training field crews, working in databases, producing professional reports, statistical analysis, map making, and public outreach coordination.
This position requires working in both field and office environments. Field season runs approximately from mid- June through mid-October. Field work involves hiking on uneven ground, steep slopes while carrying equipment. Work may also involve extended periods of time (4-nights per week) camping or in hotels with long days (10 hour days) lifting and carrying equipment in challenging environments. The successful candidate will be driving throughout the state and will be required to have a valid driver's license. Office work will be based out of Helena.

Qualifications include a bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies, Ecology, Geomorphology, or a closely related field and two years of job related experience in water quality monitoring or reporting.
