Field Technician I

Department: Core Services
Reports to: Laboratory Manager
Location: Midland, Texas


Employee will be involved in operations involving cutting, stabilization, sub-sampling and some rudimentary analytical measurements of geologic (core) samples in the field. Outside of the field, employee s duties will include, but are not limited to, general shop duties, assistance in the Rock Shop (or other departments), equipment maintenance, and training (both field-specific and other). Employee will undergo required internal and external training required for full position.


  • Conduct all work in a safe manner, complying to company HSSE policy; including but not limited to the completion of required training, such as Driving, Safe Land, H2S Awareness and any operator-specific training
  • Perform pre- and post-job inspections
  • Operate and maintain a gas-powered chop saw and a pneumatic band saw
  • Mark depths on core and core tubes
  • Preserve core samples in wax on location
  • Complete Daily Field Reports, Sample Inventory Sheets and Field Tickets
  • Be available to coordinate and assist other Premier Oilfield Group labs and departments when required
  • Be available on a 24-hour basis to respond to customer needs
  • Assist with well site equipment maintenance, inventory, and other duties as required
  • Work assignments carried out to the highest quality level
  • Perform various other duties and activities as assigned by supervisor within the physical constraints of the job

  • Minimum High school degree or equivalentValid driver s license and a clean driving record.Understanding of industrial QHSE requirements
  • Preferred Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and OutlookStrong mechanical and troubleshooting skillsWorking understanding of chemistry and physicsPrevious experience working on wellsite in the fieldExperience working with common industrial hydraulic fittings like NPT, Swagelok, Autoclave Engineers, & HIP

  • Lift 100 lbs maximum with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 50 lbs
