Motiv is looking for a smart, enthusiastic Compliance Engineer to lead compliance and certification for our chassis and join us in transforming an industry. In this position your primary responsibility will be to secure CARB and EPA certificates, maintain documentation to support FMVSS Compliance, and lead Motivs participation in relevant rules and standards groups. You will be responsible for the coordination of emission and safety certification process and interaction with relevant stakeholders including product management, engineering, government agencies, and our policy group. You will help Motiv develop compliance policies, procedures, plans, and guidelines to ensure that both governmental and industry regulations and standards are met. Some travel (up to 20%) to attend relevant workgroups will be expected.

Responsibilities:

Work with teams to ensure our products & processes meet evolving & applicable regulations Manage homologation and compliance application processto obtaining approvals from government authorities or agencies Track & understand the regulatory environment Monitor, evaluate, and advise on the development and implementation of relevant standards including SAE, ISO and other industry standards as needed Facilitate discussions of changes that might affect ongoing & new business Clearly communicate changes to regulatory requirements with Motiv and partner vehicle builders Identify applicable regulations, necessary testing, prepare applications, & coordinate tests with external labs, vendors, & internal resources to ensure full certifications & compliance Participate in design reviews, provide regulatory input to development teams, and provide engineering analysis to policy and business groups Organize & support documentation related to regulatory certifications

Requirements:

Engineering degree or equivalent experience & minimum of 3 years industry experience in an automotive or related regulated field 3 to 5 years related experience in regulatory compliance engineering or closely related field Previous experience working with regulatory & certification entities such as DOT/ NHTSA, EPA, and CARB Technical background in mechanical testing, electronics, and verifying safety & compliance Experience writing technical documents, coordinating compliance testing with independent labs & certification agencies
  • Excellent written & oral communication skills
  • Able to write for a variety of audiences ranging from detailed technical reports to executive summaries
  • High level of accuracy & detail
  • Working knowledge of regulations as associated with emissions compliance and compliance procedures
  • Experience working with technical standards
  • Knowledge of government processes and workgroup structures
